Service Projects :: FOP Shop with a Cop
The annual FOP “Shop with a Cop” held in December 2009, was once again a great success. Sixty-six under-privileged children from our community benefited from this program held at the Nolensville Road and Rivergate Wal-Mart stores. The program provided each child with money to buy needed clothing, personal items, and gifts for themselves and their family members.

Funding for the “Shop with a Cop” program is provided by the FOP, through donations made to the FOP Camp, and Wal-Mart. Your brother and sister FOP members select the children from the six summer camps held each year. The children are selected based on those having the greatest needs. Once selected, police officers bring the children to Wal-Mart and assist them in picking out gifts for themselves and their family members. Officers and their families, as well as other volunteers, wrap each gift. While the gifts are being wrapped, Hunt Brothers Pizza provides lunch for the kids.

This annual program provides officers a way to give back to the community by helping those who would normally not be able to help themselves. The children are excited about their shopping trip and find it rewarding to be able to buy gifts for their families. Thanks to your generous donations, this program continues to be a great success year after year.
